What are poker tournaments?

Poker tournaments have popularized nowadays and they are held all across the world with participants too representing their nation. Las Vegas and Nevada are major hubs for these tournaments. The rules here are little different from a normal poker. Since it involves large number of players, hence, there are different tables laid down and each table has designated number of individuals. Initially a preliminary round is conducted where the players pitch against each other and chips are laid as bets. The player winning all the chips on a table is considered for the next round. This goes on until the final winners play on the same table. The aggressive players go for “rebuy” where for first two hours even if you loose your chips you are eligible to play. There is a “shootout tournament “too conducted where the tables are not combined and each table ends up with a winner. For few of the game the reward structure is formulated in such a manner that there are rewards for all the finalists. However, the prize money for each would be different. Poker tournament is less of luck and more of skills. Hence, it is essential to be shrewd and patient before making all the moves.
